…Felicia Simon

Hello everybody! Today I’m in Romania. Whom I’m talking to?

I’m Felicia, a child who can count to more than just ten and has some sort of sweet addiction to photography.

Hi Felicia! Can you introduce yourself?

I’m a 17-year-old starry-eyed girl living in Romania, who has been in love with photography for almost five years now.

Sounds great! How did you passionate about photography?

It all started about five years ago, when I was introduced to deviantART by a friend. I enjoyed lots of photographers’ works here and said to myself I wanted to do the same thing. And there I was, watching and shooting everything my eyes could see.

Do you think that without the internet you’d never have started to take pictures?

I think I would have loved taking photographs no matter what, but without the Internet, nothing would have gone too far, in an intriguing way that has made me keep following my passion.

Are there other your passions that were born thanks to the Internet?

It may be creating illustrations (which I’m on my way to doing!), especially for children.

What are your visual references?

To sum it up, everything I can see. Sometimes it’s more, sometimes it’s less - especially when I’m not wearing my glasses or my camera lenses.

Eheh! Your profile page on deviantART has been viewed more than 2,000,000 times: what do you think attracts so many people to your gallery?

I haven’t got the slightest idea why people keep visiting my page! I don’t even know how I got here… Sometimes, it’s pure fantasy to me.

Do you have any favorite artists?

I do! I can definitely mention Steve McCurry, Sally Mann and Zhang Jingna here.

Why do you like these?

Their art has it all - soul, words, silence, visual delight.

What is your favorite piece of work?

I cannot decide on one. But yes, I do like some pieces more than the others - especially the ones that involve strangers.

Why?

Strangers are the most intriguing subject to me - when I take their photographs, I feel like knowing them, even for a second, through some pixels.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to be happy. To keep taking photographs and loving life, like I do now. That’s all. Hope I ain’t asking for too much.

Fine! The interview is over: is there anything else you want to say to our readers?

Perhaps to stay healthy and full of heart. :)
